Cares of this life can distract us from God

It is easy for each of us to become overwhelmed with the cares of this life that distract us from God. We forget that God has promised to provide us with our needs as any father would do for his children. All of us are affected by this weakness of faith from time to time.

We worry about loved ones, about earning a living, providing for our families and a long list of other things. The world around us is filled with trouble and the trials we face only add to the distraction. The Lord warned us about the distractions and compared them to good seed falling among thorns.

Mark 4: 18 0 19, “Now these are the ones sown among thorns; they are the ones who hear the word, and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.”

Our life on this earth is very brief when compared to eternity. We prepare in this life for the life to come and are to be faithful to the Lord in all that we do. The pleasures of this world are only temporary but are used by Satan to entrap us. It is important for us to recognize the things that easily distract us and work to keep our focus on the Lord.

Luke 21,34: “And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.”

Jesus Christ is the only hope of mankind and we are to take the Gospel to as many as we can. The Bible that most people read is how they see Christians live. Our lives are an open book to the world around us. If we allow cares of this life to distract us from the life we should live before God, we close that book others around us.
