The Scariest Verses in the Bible

There are a few verses that are the scariest verses in the Bible that should make everyone pay attention and carefully consider them. These verses contain such a warning that the most devout Christian should take notice and examine themselves to ensure they are following God’s Word.

The Lord Jesus never blunted the edge of the Sword of God’s Word when He spoke to those around Him and we shouldn’t expect to be treated any better when we read His Words in the Bible. Let us consider these verses very carefully.

Mathew 7: 22-23, Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

In the Gospel of Mathew chapter 7, we find what I would consider to be the scariest verses in the Bible. The reason we should consider them is because the Lord is giving a direct warning to those who heard Him speak as well as those of us who read the Bible today.

The warning the Lord gives to us is clear, that there will be people during Judgement Day who will falsely believe their works will earn them a place in Heaven. They will be surprised to hear the Lord tell them to depart.

John 3: 3, “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

The new life that is given to people through salvation is a complete transformation of the individual. The Christian has a new nature and a new purpose in life. The old things are passed away and all things are made new.

Ephesians 2: 8-9, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

No one the Lord touched went unchanged. Whenever we read about someone turning to Him in the Bible, we see there is a clear change in the direction of their life.

The priests He was dragged in front of will be dragged before Him. The devil’s children will do the work of their father. They may have believed they were doing God’s Will but they clearly didn’t know the Lord was right in front of them.

Has your life truly been changed? Will the Lord say to you ‘well done, good and faithful servant,” or will He say to you “depart from Me?” We should all take time to read the scariest verses in the Bible and examine our relationship with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
