Why Your Mistakes Are the Best Lessons for Your Kids!

People gain wisdom by being foolish at times and by witnessing the foolishness of others. Parents have a God given responsibility to teach their kids about life and how to avoid making it harder. One way parents can help their kids to learn about life is by teaching them about the mistakes you’ve made.

Teach your kids about the mistakes you made and how those mistakes affected your life. Also teach them about the times you were sucessful. The Bible is God’s Guide Book to life and clearly tells us this.

Deuteronomy 4:9, “Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons’ sons;”

Sucessful parents often raise sucessful kids. Parents who are irresponsible often raise irresponsible kids. There are individual cases where this is not true but in general it holds true.

Our mistakes and our successes can be a lesson to our kids. The problem is that too often we try to hide the mistakes instead of accepting the consequenses.

Do you want your kids making the same mistakes in life that you made? Why not tell them about the consequences of those mistakes and pray they don’t make them.

Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

God has given us the responsibility to raise our kids and to teach them how they should live. We are to teach our kids about the Lord and His Word as well as how to live in this present world.
