God’s Protection and God’s Judgement
Mankind has learned many things studying science throughout the centuries. Each of those scientific advancements have often pointed back to the truth of God’s Word. Within the Bible we learn about two very important things everyone needs to know about. Those two things are God’s protection of His children and God’s Judgement for his enemies.
Deuteronomy 8:19, “And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the Lord thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.”
Isaiah 1:18, “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”
From the science of physics we have learned that what we know as darkness is the absence of light. And what we know as cold is the absence of heat.
There is much more for us to learn in the ways of science but again, it is God who has written those scientific laws that mankind spends so much time trying to understand.
We hear of tragedy from all over the world, and most recently within our own nation as we have suffered another terror attack that has left many people dead.
Some politicians quickly renewed their calls for more gun control laws which have never worked to stop one of these shootings. Through their political rhetoric they forget the true causes and the threats we face.
There are many people who ask why a loving God would allow such tragedy and evil to strike our nation. Much like our examples above, the truth of evil is that it is the absence of God.
For the last several decades we, as individuals and as a nation, have allowed others to push God out of the public sphere in which we live. Being the gentleman that He is, He has graciously granted our requests.
Within us as individuals and as a nation, there is a void that has now been filled with evil. The more we have pushed God out of our lives, the more He has been replaced with that evil.
Psalm 9:17, “The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.”
The Lord Jesus Christ has blessed us beyond measure as a nation, giving us more abundance than any nation in the history of the world and we are taking it for granted.
Galatians 6:7-8, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.”
We have forgotten God. We have pushed Him aside and refuse to hear His Words. We have sown the seeds of rejecting Him and we are now reaping the harvest. God’s Word is as true today and will still be as true tomorrow as it has always been.
We need to consider some very harsh truth that is unpopular today and that will make some people angry. The only hope for us as individuals and as a nation is the Lord Jesus Christ.
If we continue to be a stiff necked people and refuse to listen to His loving calls for us to return to Him, we cannot expect anything less than to face the same judgements as Israel faced centuries ago.
The Lord Jesus Christ willingly laid aside His Heavenly garments to come to this earth to pay the price of sin for you… Yes you, the one reading this article, and for me. He cries for us to come to Him just as we are and allow Him to change us. As the Apostle Paul said, how shall we escape if we reject so great a salvation?
We need individual repentance and national repentance. We need to bring the Lord outside of the walls of the church house and back into our public sphere. We need to quit worrying about offending people and worry that we are not offending the Lord.
My friends; those who regularly read these articles and those who may read this one as their first; I have two challenges for you. I also want to warn you before you accept these challenges.
The first challenge is that you are to take a moment to pray that the Lord would refocus your life to Him and help you live as He would have you to live. If you are lost, pray for the Lord’s mercy and grace. He loves you and died to pay for your sins. Put your trust in Him alone for salvation and do not allow anyone to deceive you into following anyone but the Lord Jesus Christ.
The second challenge is that the next time you and your family eat out at a restaurant, take a moment to bow your heads in prayer, thanking the Lord for His blessings.
And now the warning. If you have never done either of these things before, prepare yourself for spiritual battle. Satan will try to stop you from doing so. It might be something as simple as you thinking about what others will say about you or what will they think about you. Or it could be something more.
If you have never done either of these things before, I would like to hear about your experience. May the Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on us and on our nation and help us turn from our sinful ways.
